Photo: Nick Catterwell Nicky Catterwell began playing at the age of 7 at her local music centre in Essex. When she moved to Kent she continued her lessons with Kent Music School and in one year of her studies was awarded a grant for that year's lessons. At age 18 Nicky was awarded with her Recital Certificate, examined through the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Continuing her studies Nicky graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University College in 2000 with her Music and Information Technology degree and has since continued playing and performing on a regular basis. As well as being a member of the Canterbury Orchestra since December 2001, Nicky is also involved with 2 wind quartets, the Mistral Quartet and the Jasmine Quartet as well as playing with other groups for set occasions.
Relatively recently Nicky has been able to study with Kate Hill, co-principle flute for the English Chamber Orchestra as well as a professor at the Royal Academy of Music, London and also with Anna Pine, a solo performer who herself studied with Kate Hill.
As a soloist, Nicky has performed on a couple of occasions with the Canterbury Orchestra but has also been involved with charity concerts, in particular for SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society - www.sands-uk.org).
With views to continuing her studies to Postgraduate level, Nicky is now working with a new tutor on her performance skills. Visit Nicky Catterwell's website.
