Richard Keohane (Piano)

Richard Keohane (piano) - Medway Young Musician of the Year

Richard Keohane is 18 years of age from Kent and started playing the piano when he was 9 and flute when he was 11. He joined Kent Centre for Young instrumentalists at 12 under the direction of piano teacher David Sams, gained a place at the Royal College of Music Junior department at 14 and joined Chetham's school of Music in Manchester the following year, where he is currently studying piano with Simon Bottomley.

Richard has taken part and won classes in festivals nationwide, won Medway Young Musician at 16  and also won the Denis Loveland Piano Festival in Kent. He has also competed internationally. Following his A levels, later this year, Richard will be returning to the Royal College of Music for undergraduate studies with Niel Immelman.

Richard played the Piano Concerto No 1 in E flat by Liszt at a concert with the Canterbury Orchestra at the King's Hall Theatre, Herne Bay in June 2005.
