Rosie Lowen

Canterbury Orchestra

Rosie graduated from the University of Manchester in July 2011 and is now taking a Masters degree at the Royal College of Music, where she studies oboe with John Anderson and David Theodore. She has always loved playing in orchestras and has performed with many different ensembles all over the country. Highlights of the past year include playing Mahler’s 5th Symphony on tour in Prague with the University of Manchester Symphony Orchestra; Shostakovich’s 5th Symphony at the CBSO centre with the Birmingham Festival Orchestra; and a programme of Bartok and Szymanowski at the Queen Elizabeth Hall with the RCM symphony orchestra. She toured China with the Kent Sinfonia in January 2012.

Rosie was an active participant in youth music around Kent throughout her school life and was a member of the Kent County Youth Orchestra for 7 years. She also attended the Kent Music Academy, where she had the opportunity to perform the Vaughan Williams Concerto for Oboe and Strings in the leaver’s concert. The experiences from both of these organisations helped inspire her to become a professional musician.

Rosie is supported by the Women’s Careers Foundation.
